The Department of Tamil is doing the activities for the welfare of rural students from the day inception of our college in 1970 to till date. Improvement of women education ,upliftment of rural women, create self confidence, self reliance, promote research work and career advancement are the goals of our department.In our department there are 11 permanent staff members and one guest lecturer. We are ready to service our students at any time. Under the guidance of our staff members our students were participated regional and national level programmes and won many prizes and earned credit to our college with their involvment activities.
Our staff members actively participated in National and International seminars and conferences . From 2007 we have conducted two national level seminars till this year. We all of us present more than 500 research papers in many conferences.We got guideship in Mother Teresa Womens University , Bharathiar University, Manonmaniam University to guide Ph.D scholars. We individually published more than 10 books and edited more than 10 books.
We guided for 8 Ph.D scholars more than 200 M.Phil scholars and 200 U.G projects. We have Folk Arts instruments like False leg horse, Madu, Karagam, Kavadi , Kattaikal to promote the folk arts culture among our students and in the society.We taught Folk games to our students like Nondi, Chottangal, Thayam, Pallanguli, Poopparika varukirom, Kola kolaya munthirika. With this programmes we revive the ancient folk games among our students. To improve the standard of the students remedial coaching classes are conducted. We always working for the students welfare.
