The Department of History is doing laudable for the welfare of rural students from the day inception of our college in 1970 to till date. Upliftment rural women, improvement of women education , create sense, promote research inculcate self – confidence, self – reliance and career advancement are the goals of our department.
Our department is gifted with more efficient and devoted 5 permanent staff members and 4 Guest Lectures who are ready to adhere to the needs of the students at any time. Under the able guidance and counselling of staff members, students bring laurels to the department and College by securing many prizes in various competitions that are held at regional, state and national level. By their active participation in various competitions and sports meet they add fame to yhe college.
The members of the staff too take active participation in various academic activities by presenting more than 300 research papers and guided projects for UG – 110 , PG 90, M.Phil -75 and by resealing 20 books moreover we organised UGC seminar and one State level , Ugc Seminar.
To promote research activities among the students they are taken to historical places by arranging field trips and educational tours.
In order to cope up with the recent trends and to enrich the curriculum new subjects like science and technology, Yoga and meditation, Tourism developments and women studies are introduced. Besides department having is in possession of many teaching equipments like Computer, tape-recorder, automatic slide projector, electronic type – writer flim strips, audio visual cassettes for the betterment of the students and staff of our department.
To improve the standard of the students remedial coaching classes and intensive coaching classes are conducted. Department is proud to say that Dr.(Mrs)K.Gowri former Head of the Department of our departments have recived Dr.Radhakrishnan award for her meritorious service to student community.
The study of History will help the students to becomeGood academicians, administrator, Lawyer, parliamentarians, Politicians, Entrepreneurs, writers, Journalists and leaders.
To create awareness on Cultural heritage, maintain Archaeological monuments and environment.
To educate the students on social, economic and Political trends that are happening at theNational and International level
